Late fee waivers may be denied for a few reasons.
- There is an outstanding balance remaining that includes unpaid assessments. The Board of Directors will not consider waiving late fees/late interest until the outstanding assessments have been paid in full.
- Some communities only allow a one-time courtesy late fee/late interest waiver.
- Some communities do not waive late fees/late interest at all.
- Homeowner has received previous late fee waivers.
These decisions are up to the Board of Directors and the Board has a fiduciary duty to make decisions in the best interest of the Association as a business. And sometimes that means making the hard decision to not waive late fees as a way to hold people accountable.
